The Good Hope choir exists to assist the congregation in bringing glory to God through musical praise. This effort unites the choir in both voice and heart. The choir sings during the worship service monthly with more choral pieces sung during the Christmas and Easter seasons. Opportunities also exist for soloists and smaller ensembles. Qualified instrumentalists are welcome to accompany choral pieces and play offertory.
Check the calendar for their schedule, but generally rehearsals are held Sundays at 5:15-6:15 pm, September through May. Vocalists of all experience levels are welcome to join. The choir is directed by Kim Monroe and accompanied by Karen Hotham.
The choir also organizes other musical ensembles for special occasions. The video below is an example of the handchime choir formed to celebrate Christmas.
Here are two performances by the Good Hope Choir. First a trio performed the “Lift thine eyes” from the oratorio Elijah written by Felix Mendelssohn.
The choir continued with “He, watching over Israel” (Movement 29) from the same oratorio.
